Setting process monitoring and function documentation

Fully comprehensive quality management system

The setting process monitoring system is an integral part of the GAV 8000 electronic. Through the combined use of function documentation for blind rivets and setting process monitoring for the

GAV 8000 electronic, process reliability is guaranteed as connections are made. The fully comprehensive GESIPA® quality management system delivers precision and accuracy from the very first stage of production all the way through to the moment the blind rivet has been processed.

Integrated setting process monitoring

The GAV 8000 electronic comes with GESIPA® setting process monitoring as standard, affording the user a whole host of additional benefits. The fully comprehensive quality concept is in place to guarantee maximum assurance during the process. Plus, there's no need to calibrate the system after replacing the tool. Independent system operation is a straightforward option owing to the ease and speed of the installation process. Interfaces are also available should you wish to integrate a controller.

Quality management system

The GESIPA® quality management system delivers precision and accuracy from the very first stage of production all the way through to the moment the blind rivet has been processed. Through the combined use of function documentation and setting process monitoring for the GAV 8000 electronic, process reliability is guaranteed as connections are made. The full quality management system comprises the following three parts:

  • Dimension check
  • Function check
  • Setting process monitoring

The dimension and function checks are performed at the GESIPA® factory, whilst setting process monitoring takes place in real time at the production facilities during the riveting process.

Function documentation – setting curve

The setting curve is measured – along with other parameters – for every batch of application-specific blind rivets using calibrated measuring devices. The measured results for shank deformation, slipping in behaviour, mandrel breaking load and tightening force are compared with the target values to check that the blind rivet is being formed correctly during the application and that a secure connection is being made.

Function documentation – mandrel ejection force

The rest mandrel left behind in the rivet once it has been set is ejected by an ejection pin. The progression of the force measured reveals if the rest mandrel is stuck in place and is not causing any rattling noises. A batch will only be released for delivery if both of these values fall within the tolerance zone.

Monitored process – secure connection

If blind rivets are being processed within industrial applications for which safety and security are key, the riveting processes have to be fully monitored and documented. The GAV 8000 electronic fully automatic riveting tool offers economical solutions in line with the application in question through everything from the underlying system to the unit with the bar code scanner and process computer system.
