'Out of this world' experience for GESIPA UK-Keighley team members

Team members at GESIPA UK-Keighley had a team building workshop at Keighley College Star Centre.

Star Centre is a fantastic immersive space-themed STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths) learning centre at local Keighley College, where each team member can play a vital role in a team. The centre delivers exciting and engaging events in a unique environment for all ages, working with schools and businesses.

The team building session was held at The STAR Centre environment to break down communication barriers among team members and within various departments. It offered the opportunity to tackle issues such as communication, problem solving and time and task management in a fun and memorable way that will help improve team morale, and increase cohesion.

Some teams members were sent into the space station and some were left at mission control base to guide the "astronauts". Both the teams had to communicate efficiently and in time to complete various tasks by decoding the ciphered messages in order to activate the communication system, create an antidote etc.

"It was a really good experience. The set up and organisation was that good you almost forget it's an educational exercise. It's like you're in a video game or a movie!
I think everybody appreciated how valuable communication and sharing information is, no matter how insignificant you may think it is. Also, (as critical as time is) how important it is not to rush any task to avoid mistakes further down the line." said Bryan Taylor, Production Engineer at GESIPA UK-Keighley.
